I would say this woman was never a friend of the person you refer to in the first place. Not issuing invitations? Not being invited to social occasions? This isn’t a friend, it’s a ‘convenience’ and we all ought to know the difference and when we’re being used. So, it’s not surprising to me that this woman claims “it’s my fault” because if she had any more self-esteem in the first place she wouldn’t have let her “friend” walk all over her. So, Ruth, self-esteem and equality is important in friendship too, and not being treated with contempt. I feel this woman was not a ‘priority’ friend for her – just a ‘low priority’ person. I wonder she waited 40 years to find this out.
