News.com.au reports: “SALES of organic meat are on the rise as shoppers shocked by the cruel treatment of Australian cattle overseas seek out more ethical options.
One organic meat shop in the Brisbane region has recorded a 10 per cent rise in sales in the weeks since graphic footage showing the cruel treatment of Australian cattle in Indonesian slaughterhouses aired on Four Corners.
Butchers say they have been bombarded by questions about the source of their meat and how the cattle were treated before being sent to the abattoir.”

Sorry, but anyone who stops eating beef, is not supporting either side of the Live Export. Beef sold in Australia is of a softer( British) breed, not Braham, which are the cattle being Live Exported out of Northern Australia.
Please assist support the prevention of animal cruelty, but Do Not ban live export.
For the good of all Australians, let’s better manage Live Export and our relations with Indonesia.
Let’s even keep some Indigenous Australians employed on their homelands.
Want to have a REAL chance to have your say and input on the live animal export issue? You have only until Friday 15th July to put in your submission to the Government. Do it, please!

Hi Ruth,
Thanks for your warm welcome. I wasn’t sure how to contact you other than to give you my thoughts in a comment here.
I’m not too sure where else to add a comment to your Blog as I’m actually not a “career blogger” at all. Just an informed and passionate Aussie concerned for the welfare of animals as well as the future of the cattle producers and all other primary industry. A rare hybrid!
I’ll keep looking for your Blog…
Thanks again,
Lachlan
Hi Lachlan, welcome to my site. Lovely to have you and I hope you contribute to my Blogs. I cannot publish your letter and I believe it was only intended for my eyes only, but yes I read your comments on Just Grounds and was impressed with your voice and logic. I am trashing the letter but only because I can’t keep it here in the ready to moderates or it will end up published. But please write something that contributes to the debate on my Blog and you will be most welcomed.
Thanks Jenny good point
Some people have told me that they’ve stopped eating beef since seeing the Four Corners report. While this may help them feel better it does nothing to stop the cruelty of the live export trade. If people want to express their concern a better way to help the animals is to tell the PM, the Agriculture Minister and your local Federal member how you feel about the cruelty involved in the live export trade and demand it be banned. Hints for what to say and addresses can be found at Animals Australia and RSPCA websites.
“Organic meat”- what a strange term??? Bit like me saying that I am the definitive organic human and that you Ruth are just a mere human.
The Paddington Butcher(good luck to him ) has made a fortune out of these emotional buzz words- that makes him a good salesman – not necessarily any better butcher than the next one.
Thanks for the link to Just Grounds site Ruth as I am one of the producers on there.I too have learnt a lot about the live export as it is completely different to what we do here in SW Qld by reading all the comments.
I am so happy to read this story. Please contribute to this debate. The more we as consumers say NO to the cruelty in the live export industry, and indeed the way animals are called Live Stock and reared in captivity and fed hormones, the more pressure is put on governments and retails. And the more chance we have to stop inhumane practices.
Please post all comments here, best wishes
Ruth
